Guess the Range

An opponent opens from a seat — which range are they playing? Pick the matching shape from the options. Ten rounds.

Opening range for ?

Correct: 0/0

How to play

1

Read the action. You're told which seat the opponent opens from.

2

Compare the shapes. Each option is a range grid — judge width and coverage.

3

Pick the match. Choose the range that fits that seat.

The lit squares are the hands in each range. Early-position ranges fill only the top-left cluster of premiums; later positions spread down and across into weaker suited and offsuit hands. Match the width to the seat.

Why link action to range

Every read starts the moment an opponent acts. If a raise from early position instantly calls up a tight range in your mind, you know to respect it; a button open calls up a wide one you can attack. Building that reflex is what turns position awareness into real edge. Build the ranges yourself in the Range Trainer and read the theory in preflop & ranges.

Frequently asked questions

What is Guess the Range?

You're told an opponent's action — the seat they open from — and shown several range shapes. Pick the one that matches that seat's standard opening range. It trains you to connect an action to the exact spread of hands behind it.

How is this different from Reverse Range?

Reverse Range shows one range and asks which seat it is. Guess the Range does the opposite: it names the seat and asks you to pick the matching range shape from several options. Together they train the mapping both ways.

How do I tell the ranges apart?

By width and shape. Early-position ranges are a small, high-card-heavy block; each later seat lights up more of the grid with suited hands, connectors and offsuit broadways. Compare how much of each option is filled.

Are these standard ranges?

Yes — the widely-taught 'GTO-based' 6-max opening ranges used throughout the trainer.

Is it free?
